hi there! i’m melanie, an artist based in los angeles, california. i worked in the animation industry for 10 years (!) as a prop and character designer at places including disney tv animation, netflix, and cartoon network.

then in 2024 i finally started learning to tattoo! i now work out of valiant tattoo, an la-based private studio, as a resident artist.

  1. think of your idea or my pre-designed flash that you’d like and then fill out my booking form!

  2. i book two months at a time and every request will get an email response. each tattoo also comes with a free touch up — just send a message to our email chain!

  3. my minimum at the shop is $200 — you will pay $100 as a deposit when you book your appointment, and then it will be deducted from your total balance the day of the appointment!

  4. my average quote is ~$250-450. i accept cash, venmo, paypal, or zelle the day of your appointment! tips are deeply appreciated but not required (non-traditional tips such as gifts or food are great too! (i am however a lactose intolerant girlie))

how it works

  1. try to start moisturizing the area you’d like tattooed about a week before our appointment.

  2. please come early enough to find street parking near the studio (usually it isn’t too bad, but you simply never know!!)

  3. come sober and un-sunburnt! there is a link in your calendly appointment email that allows you to reschedule a few days in advance if need be.

  4. we have plenty of snacks at the studio and a coffee shop next door, but if you need something more substantial, don’t forget to eat before your appointment!

  5. you do not need to shave the area beforehand unless you want to; i will shave the area at the appointment regardless.

  6. i’ll explain aftercare to you after finishing the tattoo, and you’ll also receive an email with aftercare instructions after the appointment.

i’m a lifelong dungeons & dragons player (my dad was my first dm and my childhood best friend and i met via our campaign in 2002!) and have a strong affinity for weird fantasy stuff.
